Home-made breakfast in the small town of Oetwil an der limmat, Switzerland.
Staying in this friendly little town with some good friends of ours, was the most amazing experience. Waking up to enjoy a calming walk through the rolling farmer fields. Just you and the sounds of the cows bells dinging and your feet hitting the gravel under them. The odd neighbour passing you by with a smile on their face, greeting you and asking how your day was. The smell of grass and flowers wafting through the slight breeze that blew past the forest trees. It truly was a great and peaceful place to be.
You could even walk a couple blocks down the street to the local farmers, self sufficient, small goods store. There you could find, fresh cuts of meat, raw unpasturized milk, eggs, berries and more. All you had to do was pay it into a vending machine like metal box that held the food. The door would then open, you'd grab your food and be on your merry way.
I loved living in this area, it really helped me feel happy and to connect with the outdoors and our friends. Like I said before, I love taking the time to connect with friends and family on a deeper level. We take this for granted far too often in this busy day and age. Our work schedules take over and the next thing you know months if not years have gone by since your last visit. Or maybe it's only been a couple weeks but you could only catch up for a few hours talking about the weather or work.
Occasionally, we forget to breathe, we forget to focus, we forget to engage ourselves in the moment and just be happy. I think being around good people and being placed in a slower paced nature surrounding such as Oetwil an der limmat, really supports the focus of opening your eyes up to these values. Wealth and power are not what makes life but it is what drives anger and greed dragging us all down the trail of an un-healthy lifestyle.
So let try to lift peoples spirits together starting with a smile and some good food!
For breakfast we had,
Sunny eggs, bacon and cauliflower hash
