Ahhyay Wellness Cafe, was really a diamond in the rough. My partner and I made a trip from Sechelt B.C on the sunshine coast through to Armstrong B.C to visit my aunt and uncle along our way to our final destination, Regina, Saskatchewan. The stretch from Sechelt to Armstrong was quiet lengthy so we decided to stop about half way in Kamloops.
I never would have guessed Kamloops would have an actual Keto restaurant, as not many cities do. But I decided to check anyways and to my dismay, sure enough, they had Ahhyay. My partner and I were so excited so, of course, we beelined straight for it.
The Cafe is located in the same building as the Royal inland Kamloops hospital. Kind of ironic isn't it? It may not be the most easily accessible but it has enough room to dine in and offers everything from snacks, soups, salads and even hot plates.
Another fantastic aspect of Ahhyay, is that they offer workshops on the Ketogenic diet by certified nutritionists.
Bright, modern and welcoming, Ahhyay really hit the nail on the hammer in regards to the Ketogenic lifestyle. It makes me really happy to see these places thrive as it gives us Ketonians a chance to eat out and actually enjoy our food!
I highly recommend a visit to Ahhyay whenever you're near by!
Here we had:
The award winning Turmeric mushroom soup with spiced mushrooms, toasted pumpkin seeds, ginger, turmeric, local sprouts, and spinach, finished with coconut cream and cilantro.
~ This soup was so filling as it was loaded with mushrooms and if you like turmeric, like I do, it is definitely a must try!
Walnut taco salad with crisp romaine lettuce, avocado, and red pepper tossed in chili and lime dressings, and topped with a spicy walnut crumble, cashew sour cream, micro greens, and fresh Roma tomato salsa. We also added some grass-fed steak.
~ This salad was also super filling and extremely delicious. It was surprising, to me, how much it tasted like a taco salad and an added bonus of the grass-fed steak. Absolutely delicious!
